United Progressive Agricultural Youth Association (UPAYA) is registered under the Society Registration Act. 1960. It is a missionary endeavor of the Society of Divine Word (SVD). The founder and the visionary of the organization for social cause is late Fr. I. Ignatius SVD, registered 1988. Our approach towards the social development is experiment and experience. For the last twenty three years, working with the different sections of rural communities, many epitomes are being created in the field of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, relief works and various skill training programmes.

In all these years of experimental activities, the lesson learned is that the sustainable development is through qualitative change of the human person through knowledge and skills. We believe on the peoples’ management, i.e. involving in conceptualization, implementation and evaluation. In other words the programmes and projects are managed and own by the people. With this concept the community college evolved on 5th May 2005, by the inspiration of Fr. Xavier Alphonse sj.
